You need an API subscription.
How did this change? I was literally using this minutes ago under an older version of SEOTools and when I upgraded to 7.080 now I suddenly need to spend $500 a month just to use the API? Do I need to downgrade?
PS: According to AHREFS, I should be able to authorize a third-party app to use the API via OpenApp. Any reason that shouldnât work now? I have a paid account with OpenApp permissions âŠ
Upon checking with AHrefs, I am told that nothing has changed on their end, and I was given instructions to "log in" using the AHREFS pane, but no such login capability exists in the current version.
Can you try and replace the contents of the Ahrefs.xmlfile in the {install dir}/connectors folder with the following code?

No, that didnât work for me, there was still a "settings" link with a form to enter the API code, and when attempting a query, I was given the same error message.
Iâll look for the most recent update and see if that helps.

We have replaced the API Key option with Ouath login in the latest version:

Thanks @diskborste.
I just installed v7.0.11.0_20170409. I still get told: âAPI Subscription is required.â When I load the Ahrefs panel, the settings link still brings up the API key dialog box.
Again, Ahrefs confirmed to me that they donât know of anything that changed on their end. As a subscriber, there are some free API options available to me, but I canât get to them now.

@RichTatum Then you're most likely having SeoTools linking to an old connectors folder in tempdata. Can you click on "About" and see what the path says?
Thanks. This is a bug associated with upgrading from older versions. You can either a) make a clean install and remove all references to SeoTools, or b) move the Ahrefs connector file to the Appdata\local connectors folder.
BTW: This is working for me now, after a complete uninstall and reinstall.
