Google Trends Connector: Unexpected Character

Trying out the Google Trends connector, I got this dialog box:

Exception: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: <. Path '' line 0, position 0.

I removed the Google Trends connector and reinstalled it, restarted Excel. Same result.

Unfortunately, the API has been removed. There are however plenty of other unofficial packages available, for example:
